Amy Horvey is well-known as a trumpeter both in her native country and abroad. She has presented her work at the Vancouver International Jazz Festival, Open Space Victoria New Music Series, the Ottawa International Chamber Music Festival, and the 2010 Vancouver Cultural Olympiad, among many other venues. She has toured Canada presenting solo recitals of contemporary repertoire, and has been a featured soloist at the Festival of New Trumpet (FONT) Music in New York.

She worked with Pierre Boulez at the 2007 Lucerne Festival Academy and toured Italy with a solo program in 2008. In 2010, she appeared as a Yahama Artist at the International Women’s Brass Conference.

She has performed with many prominent improvisers, including Gordon Allen and Diane Labrosse, and is the trumpet player in Pierre-Yves Martel’s “re-interpretive” ensemble Quartetski. Amy has also commissioned works from composers worldwide, including Anna Höstman, Cecilia Arditto and Christopher Butterfield.

Well-known as a Baroque trumpeter, Amy has worked with several of Canada’s leading early music ensembles, such as Ensemble Caprice and the Studio de Musique Ancienne de Montréal. She regularly appears at the Montréal Baroque Festival.

Amy was the holder of the National Arts Centre Orchestra Richard Li Chair in 2008-09 and released her first solo CD, Interview, in the same year. Her newest CD, Catchment, will be released in October 2010.
