Aléas: rediscovering the universe around us through the distorting prism of a transdisciplinary poetic narrative

The CEM and Cléo Palacio-Quintin present a concert featuring the four works that the flutist-composer created with Saguenay artists during her residency at the CEM in 2020.

Aléas is a cycle of transdisciplinary creations that combines music (acoustic and electroacoustic) and images (drawings, collages, objects, photographs and videos) by Cléo Palacio-Quintin, with the poetry of Thierry Dimanche.

Resulting from cosmological reflections, the sound, visual and poetic elements are put in relation by interactive digital technologies which alter the narrative linearity and create an experience of the work each time unique. The intertwining of sounds, images and poetry triggers multiple perceptions in synesthesia, blurring the boundaries between reality, illusion and imagination. Inspired by the elements that form our planet and the alchemical quest, Cleo explores digital transmutations of matter and questions our conceptions of the real and the virtual.
