Architek Percussion presents two wonderful musical works for percussion quartet – with or without electronics – written by Canadian artists Andrea Young and Adam Basanta.

Ambiances offers two works by Canadian composer-performers Andrea Young and Adam Basanta, created expressly for Architek Percussion. These pieces are a fusion of incredible percussion sonorities and electronic sounds in an exploration of the limits of time. The thematic development of these works takes place at a fairly slow pace allowing listeners to follow the compositional process, while letting themselves be carried to the heart of a series of moments that seem to be endless. The works also explore vast soundscapes, thanks to the masterful use of reverberation - real and artificial - and the spatialization of sound sources. In Angel’s Share (2020), Andrea Young imagines the sounds of the slowly evolving and complex process of tasting three famous pure malt Scotch whiskeys distilled by Ardbeg: Traigh Bhan, An Oa and Corryvreckan. In The Privacy of Domestic Life (2015), Adam Basanta meditates on the internal ambiences of a domestic environment, fusing percussion instruments and recordings of scattered fragments of life from his daily universe of sounds.
