The opening concert of the NEM’s 24th season sees the ensemble welcome Lebanese composer Zad Moultaka to Montréal.

This concert will feature a repeat performance of Moultaka’s Fanariki for cymbalum and ensemble with Moldavian soloist Alexandru Sura, and the premiere performance of Hanbleceya, written especially for the NEM and world-renowned Argentinean guitarist Pablo Márquez.

Also programmed is the premiere of Québécois composer Simon Bertrand’s Berceuse “In Memoriam Morton Feldman” for solo viola and ensemble, featuring violist Brian Bacon, and Trame XI for solo contrabass and small ensemble by Martin Matalon, featuring soloist Yannick Chênevert.
