Gabrielle Picard

Gabrielle is a bold and creative musician with a passion for contemporary repertoire, and for working with young Canadian composers. At the age of 16, she completed the piano program at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto (RCM) and went on to pursue a Bachelor of Music in Performance at the University of Alberta under the direction of Mr. Jacques Després. Gabrielle completed her master's degree at the Conservatoire de Musique de Montréal under the direction of Ms. Louise Bessette in 2021, and will complete a Certificat de Stage de Perfectionnement with Ms. Bessette in 2022 to continue her specialization in contemporary music.
During her studies, Gabrielle was an intern at Alberta PianoFest (2015), Domaine Forget, New Music Internship (2019) and Orford, Contemporary Music (2021). Her performances have been rewarded with several distinctions including a Jeunesses Musicales of Canada Foundation Scholarship (2021), a Conservatoire de Musique de Montréal Excellence Scholarship (2020), and first prize in the Edmonton Chamber Music Society Scholarship in 2015. In April 2022 Gabrielle will have the great honor of being a finalist in the National Eckhardt-Gramatté Competition, as well as participating in the prestigious Concours International d'Orléans.
